In the upcoming Merseyside derby, David Moyes and his Everton side will be aiming to break a 22-year curse and secure a victory at Anfield. The last time Everton managed to win at Liverpool's home ground was in a Covid-affected fixture in 2021, under Carlo Ancelotti's management.

Everton's hopes of victory are buoyed by the belief that Liverpool have shown vulnerability at times, according to Moyes. The Reds have conceded goals and, with the right tactics, Everton could take advantage and run them close.

The derby holds a special significance for Everton's manager, as he has failed to register a win at Anfield in 22 attempts as manager of various clubs. Moyes, who previously managed Everton, will be hoping to turn the tables on his former rivals.

One of the key figures in this derby will be Wayne Rooney, a Manchester United legend and Evertonian at heart. Rooney has had two spells at Goodison Park and has always relished the opportunity to play against Liverpool. He made no secret of his enjoyment at playing against Steven Gerrard, his former England teammate and fierce competitor on the pitch.

Rooney's rivalry with Gerrard extended off the pitch as well. Despite being good friends, the two competed fiercely during games. This was evident in the numerous Premier League titles Rooney won with Manchester United, 16 of which came under the guidance of Alex Ferguson, who managed United during Rooney's tenure.

Interestingly, Rooney's wife, Coleen, is a Liverpool fan. However, this did not stop Rooney from asking Coleen to remove the Liverpool flags from their old house. This unusual action took place after Liverpool's Premier League win a few years ago.

Despite Rooney's Evertonian roots and his wife's support for Liverpool, the derby remains a significant occasion for the football icon. Everton fans will be hoping that Rooney's presence can inspire the team to a much-needed victory at Anfield.

Liverpool, who last won a trophy in 1995, will be aiming to maintain their unbeaten record against Everton in the Premier League. However, with Moyes and Rooney leading the charge, Everton fans have reason to be optimistic. The Merseyside derby promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams eager to secure a valuable three points.
