Heads Up: Rainy Drive on A5, Be Careful! 🤔

Time Update, June 16, 7:30 AM: Collision Averted 🚗

Contrary to initial fears, Sunday's storm didn't bring chaos to Karlsruhe. A solitary accident graced the A5 near Malsch, heading north. According to police reports, a driver skidded off the road due to heavy rain and excessive speed, hitting a guardrail. Thankfully, the driver escaped unhurt and received assistance from fellow motorists on the hard shoulder.

No additional incidents or storm damage were reported in the region. 🌧️

Storm Warning, June 15, 12 PM: Buckle Up for Bumpy Weather Ahead 🌩️

Buckle up, Baden-Württemberg! The German Weather Service (DWD) forewarns a Sunday storm that'll sweep across the region. Expect scattered thunderstorms, downpours, and hit-and-miss hail, possibly up to 3 cm in diameter. Gusts might reach 100 km/h, the DWD expert predicts. With these storms falling at short notice, it's crucial for us to stay cautious and heed the weather alerts. Southern Baden-Württemberg seems to be in the storm's crosshairs.

Breakfast Storm

By morning, the skies will darken, and thunderstorms will rattle Stuttgart and North Baden, bordering Karlsruhe and Mannheim. Rainfall could potentially reach 25 liters per square meter, and then temperatures will climb up to a scorching 29°C by lunchtime. Over the weekend, a chilly front will move through southwestern Germany, ushering in a cooler afternoon.

Clear Skies, Cooler Temperatures

Carry on into the workweek, and the sun will come out, cooling things down a bit. Temperatures will swing between 20°C in the mountains and 26°C between Mannheim and Karlsruhe. Thunderstorms may pop up in the morning across the Alb region towards the Allgäu.

Now, let's dive a bit deeper into the hazards that accompany heavy rain. During rainy weather, factors like hydroplaning, reduced visibility, slick roads, flooded roads, and increased stopping distances can make driving treacherous. Combining these conditions with other hazards, such as nighttime driving and heavy traffic, only compounds the danger.

Stay safe and vigilant, folks! Have a great week ahead, and don't forget to keep your eyes on the road... and the weather reports! 🌤️🚚🌧️

The weather-forecasting by the German Weather Service (DWD) predicted a heavy rainstorm that could potentially make driving dangerous, especially on roads like the A5. Despite the collision that occurred earlier due to rain, we must still be mindful of the weather conditions for the rest of the day.
