The Women's Tour de France 2025 is set to take place from July 26 to August 3, covering a distance of approximately 1,168.6 km with a cumulative elevation gain of 17,240 meters. This will mark the fourth edition of the prestigious cycling event, which will start in Vannes, Brittany, and conclude in the ski resort of Châtel – Les Portes du Soleil.
The race will consist of nine stages, with the first three taking place in Brittany. These stages will feature hills and short but tough climbs, setting the tone for the competition. As the race progresses eastward across France, the middle stages will pass through the Massif Central, offering a mix of profiles, including mid-mountain stages.
The queen stage, Stage 8, will take place on Saturday, August 2, between Chambéry and Col de la Madeleine. This alpine summit finish, known for its long 18.6 km climb averaging 8.1% gradient, is considered the race's toughest challenge and is likely to be decisive for the overall lead. The stage will begin with a first-category climb immediately, followed by mid-stage climbs, before the long, steep final ascent.
The final stage will also feature mountainous terrain, finishing on Col de Joux Plane. This race has a mix of flat, hilly, medium mountain, and high mountain stages, designed to test the competitors' climbing, endurance, and sprint skills.
Some of the top contenders to dethrone defending champion Kasia Niewiadoma include Demi Vollering, Elisa Longo, and Marlen Reusser. The 2024 Women's Tour de France was won by Vollering, with Niewiadoma finishing second and Pauliena Rooijakkers coming in third, separated by only 10 seconds.
