First Snow of the Season - 'Short Intermezzo' - Wasserkuppe Sees First Snow of Season in Rare Early Fall
Hesse's highest peak, the Wasserkuppe, has seen its first snowfall of the season. A thin layer, about one centimeter, covered the 950-meter peak. The German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach confirmed this rare early snow event.
The snowfall was intense but brief, lasting only a short time. It blanketed the Wasserkuppe, the highest point in Hesse, before starting to melt. Meteorologist Christoph Oelhaf from the DWD in Offenbach reported on this unusual early winter closure. Despite the initial snowfall, no further snow is expected in the region over the coming days. The snow is not anticipated to last, as it has already begun to melt.
The first snow of the season has arrived in Hesse, with one centimeter blanketing the Wasserkuppe. Although it was heavy and brief, the snow is now melting and no further snowfall is expected in the near future.
