Washington aims to advance in the Huskies' second season within the Big Ten Conference
Washington Huskies Gear Up for 2025 Season
The Washington Huskies are preparing for an exciting 2025 season, with a roster brimming with talented players and new additions.
At the quarterback position, Demond Williams Jr. shines. As a freshman, he completed over 78% of his passes, showcasing impressive accuracy and attention to detail. Jimmie Dougherty, the offensive coordinator, has praised Williams Jr.'s passing abilities. However, questions remain about who will most frequently line up at slot receiver for the Huskies.
In the running game, Jonah Coleman is a force to be reckoned with. He rushed for 1,053 yards and 10 touchdowns in the previous season, proving his worth on the field. Denzel Boston, a wide receiver, also had a stellar season with 63 catches for 834 receiving yards.
The Huskies' defensive line is also strengthened by the addition of Tacario Davis, a 6-foot-4 cornerback, and the return of Ephesians Prysock. Under the guidance of first-year defensive coordinator Ryan Walters, Washington's cornerbacks are expected to play aggressively at the line of scrimmage, thanks to their size. Last season, the Huskies ranked second in the country with the fewest passing yards allowed per game.
The Huskies' schedule for 2025 is packed with challenges. Their opening game is at home against Colorado State on Aug. 30, followed by a visit to rival Washington State on Sept. 20. The team's first conference game is at Husky Stadium against Ohio State on Sept. 27. The longest road trip is Oct. 4 at Maryland. The season concludes at home against rival Oregon on Nov. 29.
The competition for the left guard position is intense, with John Mills and Paki Finau battling it out. Both freshmen were highly regarded recruits, and the decision on who will start is yet to be made. The Huskies' alternative left guards for the 2025 season are not explicitly named, but the team has added significant players, including transfer guard Desmond Claude, suggesting a competitive roster reshuffle with new transfers and freshmen.
Demond Williams Jr.'s only interception came on over 100 attempts last season, a testament to his ability to avoid turnovers. Fisch praises freshman Braiden Vines-Bright, as well as Kevin Green Jr. and Penn State transfer Omari Evans for their performance in practice.
With a strong roster, challenging schedule, and high expectations, the Washington Huskies are ready to make their mark in the 2025 season.
