Was the corpse discovered that of the sought-after triple homicide suspect?

In a significant development in the triple murder case that rocked the small town of Weitefeld, Westerwald, authorities have confirmed that the body found recently is indeed the prime suspect, Alexander Meisner. The 61-year-old Kazakh national, who had been evading arrest under an international warrant, was the suspected perpetrator in the tragic incident that claimed the lives of Nadine Schulze (44), her husband Kai Schulze (47), and their son Kilian (16) in early April.

The bodies of the victims were discovered on the first Sunday of April, and the cause of their deaths was determined to be from stab and gunshot wounds. The identity of the deceased person found on August 5th or 6th, 2025, near Weitefeld, however, remained a mystery until now.

The body was found partially underwater in a river about 600-1000 meters from the murder site. Due to advanced decomposition, authorities could not determine the exact cause of death, nor confirm if it was suicide, injuries from the crime, or other causes. A weapon believed to be the murder weapon was found near his body.

The discovery ended a four-month manhunt and brought closure and relief to the local community who had been living in fear. The body was found in an area that was more or less a swamp at the time of the search in April, which could explain why no body was found at the time.

The investigation into the case has involved hundreds of tips, a search of a forest area, and repeated visits to the suspect's house. A 100-member special commission has been involved in the investigation, and the police have been searching for the prime suspect with a large contingent for weeks.

Mayor Karl-Heinz Keßler expressed hope for quick clarification and relief for the town, as the discovery of the deceased person could potentially be the suspected triple murderer. An arrest warrant was issued for Meisner on suspicion of triple murder.

The autopsy and identification measures are currently being conducted at the Institute of Legal Medicine in Mainz. The community waits with bated breath for the results, hoping for justice and closure in this tragic case.
