Warriors Re-Sign Kuminga to $48.5M Deal, Prepare for Lakers Showdown
Jonathan Kuminga is returning to the Golden State Warriors, signing a two-year, $48.5 million deal. The Warriors will face the Los Angeles Lakers in their season opener on Oct. 21.
Kuminga averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 47 games last season. Despite missing 31 games due to an ankle sprain, he attracted interest from several teams. The Sacramento Kings offered Malik Monk and a first-round pick for Kuminga, while the Phoenix Suns were also potential suitors in a sign-and-trade scenario.
Kuminga initially rejected a three-year, $75.2 million offer from the Warriors. However, he has now agreed to a deal with a team option for the second year. After resolving Kuminga's situation, the Warriors signed Al Horford and De'Anthony Melton as free agents. All three players participated in team practice on October 1, 2025, and discussed their signings with the media.
Kuminga's return to the Warriors is expected to strengthen the team's roster. His signing, along with those of Horford and Melton, positions the Warriors well for the upcoming season, which begins against the Los Angeles Lakers.
