Warriors in despair as Curry's hamstring injury update doesn't offer much hope for recovery

The Golden State Warriors' playoff aspirations are hanging by a thread as superstar Stephen Curry, the 37-year-old sharpshooter, is set to be out for at least a week due to a Grade 1 hamstring strain suffered in Game 1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

Curry departed the second quarter of the match versus the Timberwolves, leaving behind 13 points in just 13 minutes on the court.

This unfortunate incident marks Curry's first strained muscle incident during his career, casting doubt on the one-week recovery timeline suggested by Charania. It might be overly optimistic rather than realistic.

The Warriors registered an impressive 99-88 upset in Game 1 without their star point guard. However, with Curry expected to miss considerable time, the team's prospects are uncertain.

Fresh from a grueling seven-game series against the Houston Rockets, Curry was already under physical strain going into the Timberwolves series. Typical healing timelines for hamstring strains extend beyond a week.

Jimmy Butler, the mid-season acquisition and former Heat star, will step up to support the team in Curry's absence. Role players like Buddy Hield and Moses Moody will also contribute to bridge the gap.

While a victory in Game 1 has brought hope to the Warriors, the injury news casts a shadow over their future games. Without Curry, the team faces a daunting task of navigating at least three games.

If Curry manages to recover in exactly one week, the Warriors will be left waiting until Game 5 on May 18 to welcome him back—possibly still nursing his injury.
