Warriors end skid with 125-117 win as Steve Kerr hits 600-career victory milestone
The Golden State Warriors snapped a five-game losing streak with a hard-fought 125-117 victory over the Washington Wizards. Kristaps Porzingis led the scoring with 30 points, while De'Anthony Melton added 27 in a game that also marked a historic milestone for head coach Steve Kerr.
Golden State started strong, building a 17-point lead in the second quarter. But the Wizards fought back, narrowing the gap to 64-57 by halftime. The Warriors then pushed their advantage to 15 early in the fourth quarter, securing the win despite Washington's late efforts.
The victory also saw Steve Kerr reach 600 career wins in his 943rd regular-season game. This achievement places him among the fastest coaches in NBA history to hit the milestone, trailing only Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, and Gregg Popovich. Kerr's record now stands at 600-447, with a .569 winning percentage, four NBA championships (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022), and five seasons with 60+ wins. Elsewhere in the league, the Atlanta Hawks defeated the Orlando Magic 124-112. Portland beat Brooklyn 114-95, while the Boston Celtics topped the Phoenix Suns 120-112. The New Orleans Pelicans routed the Dallas Mavericks 129-111, the Chicago Bulls overwhelmed the Memphis Grizzlies 132-107, and the Los Angeles Lakers edged Houston 100-92. Meanwhile, San Antonio held off the Los Angeles Clippers 119-115. Despite their 12th straight loss, the Wizards have yet to drop to the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.
The Warriors' win ends their recent slump and adds to Kerr's impressive coaching legacy. With Porzingis and Melton leading the scoring, Golden State now looks to build momentum. Meanwhile, the Wizards continue to struggle, though they remain above the Eastern Conference's last place.
