Warnings for UAE citizens living in France due to fatalities and injuries in forest fires
Wildfire in Southern France: UAE Mission Issues Safety Advisory
The UAE mission in Paris has issued a safety advisory for its citizens in France due to the ongoing wildfires in the Vaucluse region of southern France.
The wildfire, described by Prime Minister Francois Bayrou as a "catastrophe on an unprecedented scale," started on August 6-7, 2025, and has burned approximately 17,000 hectares of land. About 2,000 firefighters remain mobilized to contain the fire, which has caused one confirmed death and injured 13 people, including firefighters.
Around 3,000 homes are still threatened, and approximately 1,000 evacuated residents are not yet allowed to return. UAE citizens are strongly advised to follow local authorities’ instructions, avoid the affected areas, and remain vigilant until the wildfire is fully controlled.
The UAE mission provided emergency contact numbers (0097180024 or 009718004444) and emphasized the use of the Tawajudi emergency service for assistance. French authorities have linked the wildfire to global warming and drought conditions.
Citizens are urged to exercise caution and vigilance, strictly adhere to safety instructions issued by local authorities, and stay updated on the evolving situation. The death toll from the wildfire remains at one, and the number of homes destroyed is not specified.
Thirteen people, including 11 firefighters, were injured, two of them seriously. Around 2,000 firefighters are still mobilized in France's southern Aude department to contain the blaze.
Stay safe and informed, and let's hope for a swift resolution to this catastrophe.
