Warm weather on its way: weekend forecast predicting highs of up to 30 degrees

On account of the uncooperative weather, the looming urge for tea and relaxation on the couch proved more alluring than a visit to the swimming pool for an ice cream, instead. Yet, for the present moment, that period has passed.

Warm weather on its way: weekend forecast predicting highs of up to 30 degrees

Berlin and Brandenburg are in for a warm weekend, according to the German Weather Service (DWD), but a heavy rain warning has been issued for Monday, August 11, 2025.

The DWD predicts temperatures up to 30 degrees for the weekend, with occasional clouds passing over the sky but mostly dry weather. However, the unusual weather has resulted in fewer visitors to the swimming pools compared to usual. Since the swimming pool season started at the end of April, the summer baths and Strandbad Wannsee have had approximately 760,000 visitors, which is about 110,000 fewer than in the same period last year.

On August 8, 2025, temperatures peaked around 26-28°C in Berlin, with mostly low precipitation chances throughout the day. Early August days have maximum temperatures around 24-28°C and minimums around 15-17°C, with mostly clear or cloudy skies and low rain chance.

However, the good weather is expected to take a turn on Monday afternoon. The DWD has issued an official warning for heavy and persistent rainfall, with expected rainfall up to 40 liters per square meter and possible thunderstorms. The warning is from 2 p.m. until midnight, with risks of flooded streets and cellars.

In Brandenburg, early August temperatures are similar, with highs around 24°C on August 8 and cooler nights, typically around 13-15°C. No specific precipitation forecast for Brandenburg was found beyond the rain warning affecting the whole region on Monday.

Starting from Thursday, temperatures in Berlin and Brandenburg are expected to rise, reaching between 25 and 27 degrees. On Saturday, temperatures are expected to be between 27 and 30 degrees, making it ideal for outdoor activities. The DWD forecast includes "lots of sunshine", "few cumulus clouds", and "dry weather".

However, the hot start of the month with temperatures reaching 39 degrees has given way to more inviting weather for the cinema rather than the beer garden or the swimming pool. The forecast for Sunday is similar, with temperatures also expected to be between 27 and 30 degrees.

Despite the heat storms that cannot be ruled out during the weekend, the mild to warm temperatures with mostly low precipitation probabilities make it an enjoyable time to explore the cities of Berlin and Brandenburg. But remember, prepare for significant rain and thunderstorms on Monday afternoon and evening. Stay safe and enjoy the weather!

The DWD forecast for the weekend suggests temperatures up to 30 degrees in Berlin and Brandenburg, with clear skies and minimal rain, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities. However, the weather-forecasting agency has issued a weather warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms on Monday, August 11, 2025.
