Summer: Here Comes the Heat!
Spring has been kind in Thuringia, offering some glorious days that were more reminiscent of summer than spring. But it's the hot season that's truly gearing up now, as Dominik Jung explains.
Things are heating up: Residents cope with the unbearable heatwave in Thuringia
Initially, Pentecost might bring a cool, windy, and rainy spell, according to Jung, "with occasional showery periods and brief thundershowers", he warns. But after Pentecost (9th June), the real summer heat is on its way. The CFS model forecast for June suggests an average temperature that's about 0.5 to 1 degree higher than the climate mean from 1991 to 2020[2]. Dominik Jung explains, "The trend towards heat is also evident in the ensemble forecast until the 21st of June."
