Warm Weather Ahead: Germany to Experience 30°C this Weekend
Summer's arrival in Germany is imminent, with temperatures expected to reach as high as 30°C this weekend. Southern Europe, too, will enjoy scorching summer heat, as some parts of Spain brace for temperatures nearing 40°C.
Elsewhere in southern Europe, it will remain warm, although periodic showers and thunderstorms are prevalent. Those preferring a chillier climate may find solace at the German or Dutch coasts, with temperatures hovering around 16 to 21°C.
Water temperatures in the North and Baltic Seas currently range from 13 to 15°C, whereas lakes vary from 16 to 17°C. conscious of the shallower coastal and shore areas, the temperatures may be warmer. Mediterranean regions, however, are warmer still, with values usually around 18 to 22°C, and higher in the eastern and southern areas towards North Africa.
After a turbulent few days, the weather promises improvement this weekend, with mostly dry and partly sunny conditions. Father's Day will start with the last showers between the Alps and the Ore Mountains, with improved conditions at the Baltic Sea and the Upper Rhine, where temperatures may reach 22 to 24°C.
Moving forward, Friday will bring more sunshine from the southwest, while the east may see occasional passing showers. Temperatures are likely to rise, with values reaching 20 to 25°C in most areas, and even reaching 27 to 30°C at the Upper Rhine.
Saturday is expected to be the warmest day, with peak temperatures of around 25 degrees, and up to 30 degrees along the Upper Rhine. Coastal areas may experience cooler temperatures due to sea breezes, around 20 degrees. Sunday will see a slight cooling in the northwest, while the south and east will again reach temperatures of 25 to 30 degrees.
Waghäusel-Kirrlach and Ohlsbach, both in Baden-Württemberg, currently hold the record for the highest temperatures of the year, at 30.4 and 30.1 degrees respectively, both recorded on May 2nd. So far, the 30-degree mark has not been reached in any other part of the country.
With the meteorological start of summer on Sunday, the weather seems to be aligning nicely for a warm and sunny June. However, the long-term forecast for the entire month remains somewhat volatile, with a chance of summer showers and thunderstorms interspersed with sunny hot phases.
