Warm weather and sunshine are imminent, approaching rapidly.

Summarizing the upcoming weather conditions for the extended weekend, southern Europe and Germany are anticipated to witness varying climates.

In southern Europe, temperatures might surge in parts, with some areas in Spain potentially exceeding 40 degrees Celsius this weekend. Meanwhile, central and eastern Mediterranean locations will stay warm, albeit more frequently encountering showers and thunderstorms. Severe weather warnings are not uncommon in these regions. Conversely, the German and Dutch coasts will enjoy cooler values, typically hovering around 16 to 21 degrees Celsius.

As for water temperatures, the North and Baltic Seas currently range from 13 to 15 degrees Celsius, while lakes lie between 16 and 17 degrees. Of course, these measurements are taken at a depth of one meter; shallow coastal areas can experience warmer temperatures. Conversely, Mediterranean waters are commonly warmer, averaging 18 to 22 degrees, and even higher in the eastern and southern regions approaching North Africa.

Reflecting on the situation at home, after a turbulent Wednesday with increased severe weather risks, things will improve over the weekend. Although showers and thunderstorms are still expected, conditions will be markedly better and warmer than the preceding few days.

On Friday and over the weekend, temperatures are expected to rise to 20 to 25 degrees Celsius in many regions, and even touch 27 to 30 degrees Celsius at the Upper Rhine. However, on Saturday, individual showers and thunderstorms are likely to emerge from the west, while Sunday may bring more instability with partly thunderstorms. Expect peak temperatures of about 25 degrees on Saturday, potentially rising to 30 degrees at the Upper Rhine. On Sunday, temperatures will be slightly cooler in the northwest, ranging from 20 to 25 degrees, while southern and eastern regions will continue to experience values around 25 to 30 degrees.

To put things into perspective, the hottest temperatures recorded so far this year are 30.4 degrees Celsius in Waghäusel-Kirrlach and 30.1 degrees Celsius in Ohlsbach, both in Baden-Württemberg. Thus far, the 30-degree mark has yet to be reached elsewhere this year.

Regarding the long-term forecast for June, fluctuating trends seem to be winning ground once more. Despite these unsettled yet warmer patterns, the precise path for summer continues to exhibit uncertainty. Nevertheless, the prevailing indications suggest continuation of summery showers and thunderstorms, punctuated by sunny hot spells.

I'm not sure if the weather forecast for southern Europe will align with the predictions for Germany. Despite south Europe potentially seeing temperatures exceed 40 degrees Celsius this weekend, Germany is anticipated to hover around 16 to 21 degrees Celsius.
