Warm and muggy weather hits the Philadelphia region today, according to the forecast; however, a cooler weekend is on the horizon. Here's the detailed weather prediction.

The Philadelphia area is set to experience a mix of summer and autumn weather over the coming week, according to the latest meteorological predictions.

On Thursday, the city will enjoy partly cloudy skies and a high temperature of 79 degrees Fahrenheit. The dewpoint temperatures are expected to increase, making the air feel humid.

Tuesday will bring a chance of showers, with a high temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The upcoming weekend, however, is expected to remain dry. The temperature on Saturday will be in the upper 70s, and on Sunday, it will be in the mid-70s with added cloud cover.

The highlight of the week will be on Friday, when the temperature in the Philadelphia area is forecast to reach 90 degrees Fahrenheit. This is worth noting, as the record high temperature in the city is 92 degrees Fahrenheit.

Looking ahead to the weekend, the city can expect to continue enjoying summer-like weather. On Saturday, the high temperature will be 77 degrees Fahrenheit, and on Sunday, it will be 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

As for the longer-term forecast, the Delaware Valley has more areas under the 'abnormally dry' category, according to the recent drought monitor. This is a cause for concern, as it indicates a prolonged dry spell in the region.

In the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Gabrielle continues to move northwest at 14 mph, with sustained winds of 50 mph. Currently, it is about 700 miles away from the northern Leeward Islands. There is an additional area of interest much farther east that has a 20% chance of developing into a named storm over the next seven days, which would be named Humberto.

As we move into the autumnal equinox on Monday at 2:19 p.m. Eastern time, the official start of Fall will be marked. The city can expect a high temperature of 79 degrees Fahrenheit on that day.

In the city, the temperature will be 70 degrees Fahrenheit at 9 a.m. and reach the 80s by noon. There may be showers next Tuesday, primarily during the afternoon and evening hours.

Stay tuned for further updates on the weather in the Philadelphia area.
