A War Hero's Tribute in Krasnodar

War memorial dedication honoring war veteran Konstantin Gorodzanin in Krasnodar city.

In the heart of Krasnodar, a tribute was paid to a lesser-known World War II hero, Konstantin Gorozhanyan. The memorial plaque, mounted on the facade of his former residence at 35 Festivny Street, stands as a testament to his valor and dedication.

This unassuming war veteran, who fought valiantly and became a Hero of Labor of Kuban and Honorary Citizen, has now found a place amongst Krasnodar's history. The ceremony was graced by his daughter, Mayor Yevgeny Naumov, and representatives from the FSB's Krasnodar branch.

Yevgeny Naumov shared his feelings on this significant occasion, "I was privileged to know this man. His war stories were captivating. People like him built our country - they understood duty and honor and what they were fighting for."

A young man of 18, Konstantin Gorozhanyan gallantly stepped onto the battlefield and fought courageously in the Battle of Moscow. He undertook risky reconnaissance missions behind enemy lines and was honored with the Order of Lenin at just 21. Post-war, he served diligently in the state security organs and significantly contributed to the development of the veterans' movement.

The memorial plaque's unveiling took place on the sacred day of St. George's Victory, symbolically, as FSB representative Alexander Krytyakov mentioned, Konstantin Ivanovich was indeed a victor who laid the foundation for future generations to experience a peaceful life.

Interestingly, cosmopolitan Krasnodar also celebrated the Day of Victory with a concert near veteran Vladimir Melnikov's residence.
