The war between Russia and Ukraine, now in its 1093rd day, continues to unfold with significant developments reported across various fronts.

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian forces have made gains in the Russian region of Kursk. Reports suggest that Ukrainian troops have advanced up to five kilometers, potentially marking a strategic success in the region. However, ISW also notes that Russian forces have regained territory in Kursk, specifically the town of Novaya Sorochina.

Russian forces have reportedly progressed near Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, and Velyka Novosilka, based on geolocated images, according to various sources. This advance comes as Ukraine's defense industrial base has significantly expanded, resulting in the domestic production of key military equipment.

The war's impact on civilian populations remains a concern. A recent drone attack resulted in at least 12 reported deaths. The attack, which targeted multiple Ukrainian regions, saw Ukraine shoot down 107 drones in the same period.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) and the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) Global Conflict Tracker have been providing updates on the progress of the war. These sources, along with the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) Ukraine Conflict Monitor and the Institute for the Study of War's Russian Occupation Update, synthesize open-source data, media reports, government statements, and intelligence estimates to offer comprehensive insights.

Despite the ongoing conflict, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has not detected any increase in radiation as a result of the damage to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. However, a Russian drone has reportedly caused significant damage to the sarcophagus of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, raising concerns about potential future radioactive leaks.

Ukraine launched consecutive attacks on Russian refineries in January 2025, aiming to impact their gasoline, fuel, and gas production. Russia, in response, has reportedly shot down 22 Ukrainian drones over at least five regions in the last 24 hours, with the regions of Oryol and Kursk being the most attacked.

Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has denounced that Russia attacks Ukrainian gas infrastructure "almost daily" to leave the country without its own gas. This highlights the ongoing strategic struggle for control over critical infrastructure.

Maps provided by various sources aim to visualize areas where Russian troop advances and maneuvers occur, adopting a standard military approach to daily record movements in a conventional maneuver warfare. The ongoing conflict continues to evolve, with both sides making gains and facing setbacks.
