Wanted: Suspect in the Murder of Karin Riek
In the quiet neighbourhood of Lichterfelde, on 27 October 1992, a tragic event unfolded. The victim was identified as Karin Rieck, operator of the bar "Karin's Atelier" in Halensee.
The murder scene was in Berner Straße, where Karin's lifeless body was discovered by her partner due to a gunshot wound to the head. Despite extensive investigations spanning over two decades, the perpetrator and motive for her murder remain elusive.
At the time of her death, Karin was running her bar at Katharinenstraße 1 in Halensee. The Berlin State Criminal Police Office is actively seeking any tips that could shed light on this unsolved case.
Investigators believe that former burglars may hold crucial information about the whereabouts of the murder weapon. Blood was found on a glass shard at the scene in Passauer Straße, and a DNA profile was established and stored in the DNA database.
The murder weapon has been linked to two burglaries: one at a jewelry store at Kurfürstendamm 22 in Charlottenburg on the night of 7 to 8 September 1991, and another at an antique shop at Passauer Straße 35 in Schöneberg on 3 March 1992. In both incidents, the perpetrators shot through the shop windows.
