Mumbai, India, May 17 - The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has paid homage to four legends of Mumbai and Indian cricket by naming four spaces at the iconic Wankhede Stadium after them.

In a touching tribute, the MCA has christened the: 1. Grand Stand Level 3: as the Shri Sharad Pawar Stand 2. Grand Stand Level 4: as the Ajit Wadekar Stand 3. Divecha Pavilion Level 3: has been rechristened as the Rohit Sharma Stand 4. The match day office at the MCA Pavilion will now be known as the MCA Office Lounge in memory of the late, Amol Kale, former president of the Mumbai cricket governing body.

Former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar, present at the inauguration, praised the initiative. "It's heartening to see the MCA honor these names that have contributed significantly to Mumbai's cricketing history," he told ANI.

Sharad Pawar, an ex-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, was also present at the event. Rohit Sharma, the legendary Indian batsman, was there with his family and the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, NCP-SCP chief Sharad Pawar, and Mumbai Cricket Association president Ajinkya Naik.

The families of Amol Kale and Ajit Wadekar expressed their deep appreciation for the tributes. Wadekar is remembered for leading India to its first Test series wins in the West Indies and England in 1971, and enriching India's Test and ODI rankings.
