Walsum's roller hockey skills are improving progressively with each game.
Down in Duisburg, the joint team only snags seventh spot at the German Championship
It didn't quite cut it. The RESG Walsum C-Junior Roller Hockey team, partnered with the youth of GRSC Mönchengladbach, ended up settling for seventh out of seven teams at the German Championship final in Gera.
Not quite the target they aimed for. The first day didn't bring the desired results, with losses across all three preliminary games. It wasn't their skills that let them down, but rather a dash of bad luck. The opener against HSV Krefeld ended 2:3. "The better team didn't win, but we just didn't score the goals," lamented Walsum coach Roman Wissenberg. Goals from Neele Sichelschmidt and Max Bartel were impressive, yet not enough to change their fate. They turned it around against RSC Cronenberg, with scoring contributions from Sichelschmidt, Bartel, and Diego Marcel Rogge, but the score still stood at 3:5 - despite a good performance. Against hosts RSC Gera, they kept up well but suffered a disheartening 1:6 defeat, with Sichelschmidt managing to score a goal. "We got better from game to game," noted Wissenberg.
Things didn't go as planned in the placement round. A 1:4 loss to Germania Herringen (goal: Neele Sichelschmidt) was followed by a 0:4 loss to RSC Cronenberg, resulting in seventh place. "Nevertheless, we are proud of the whole team," said Roman Wissenberg, singling out goalkeeper Mikko Roosen for special praise: "He played the games of his career."
The Walsum-Mönchengladbach team consisted of: Mikko Roosen, Max Bartel, Bastian Klein, Paul Piel, Julia Schulz, Diego Marcel Rogge, Leni Nabasik, Neele Sichelschmidt.
When searching for detailed insights on the team's performance or key highlights, it seems that official sports news outlets or the teams' websites might yield more comprehensive information.
Despite their best efforts, the RESG Walsum C-Junior Roller Hockey team didn't make it to the top at the German Championship, as they were placed seventh. During the tournament, they showed remarkable skill in sports like hockey, but unfortunately, lacked the needed luck to secure victories.
