Analyzing the 2025 WNBA MVP Race
Wagering Probabilities for WNBA MVP: Caitlin Clark, A'ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier, Paige Bueckers - Odds Assessment for Most Valuable Player in Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
Prepare for the 2025 WNBA season start, as we're two days away! We've placed some win total bets, discussed the WNBA championship odds, and today we delve into the MVP race. What players’ wagers should you consider as the preseason ends and real competition begins?
The current market centers around three extraordinary players: Caitlin Clark, A'ja Wilson, and Napheesa Collier, so we'll primarily focus on these stars. We may revisit longshots like Paige Bueckers later in the season.
Caitlin Clark +200
Indy's Clark, the overall favorite at +200, aims to capitalize on the limelight following an enchanting rookie season and an exceptional college career. Clark's team is eyeing title aspirations, but her value to the spread was just 1.5 points last year (pre-holidays), rising to approximately 4 points in season's second half. Undeniably, the odds make sense, but they might be slightly overinflated, given the actual winning probability. Nonetheless, bet if the Fever face a sluggish start, losing a few games during the initial weeks.
A'ja Wilson +230
Three-time MVP Wilson is on Las Vegas and boasts the best skills in the league. After an upset in last year's playoffs, they acquired Jewell Lloyd. A combination of size, skill, and Jewell's scoring prowess could contribute to an MVP-worthy season. However, the added presence of Lloyd could potentially reduce Wilson's stats, decreasing her chances at +230. Pass for now.
Napheesa Collier +300
Minnesota's Collier, Defensive Player of the Year and a 20-points-per-game scorer, seems the most promising longshot candidate. She's listed at 3/1 odds, plays for a title-contending team, and, being the founder of the Unrivaled league, enjoys enhanced brand recognition. Out of the three major contenders, this is where I'd place my bet.
Outsider Bet: Paige Bueckers +9500
Paige, fresh from a titanic national championship run with UConn, was the top draft pick last month and now joins Dallas, who struggled defensively last season but boast Arike Ogunbowale, an excellent scoring target for Bueckers' playmaking capabilities. The Wings have an optimistic win total, but a dynamic season transformation could reap rewards at +9500.
Other Notable Odds:
- Breanna Stewart +1400
- Sabrina Ionescu +2000
- Kelsey Plum +7500
- Angel Reese +8000
- Brittney Griner +10000
- Cameron Brink +15000
