Vychegda River ice halts ferries, forcing hovercraft replacements
Ice formation on the Vychegda River has led to changes in ferry services. Passengers are advised to plan ahead as two hovercraft, Slavir and Khivus-10, will replace regular passenger services when ice makes navigation hazardous. The lead boats in such situations are 'Vychegda' and 'Sever'.
Due to dropping temperatures, the Dorozhnik-24 and Dorozhnik-19 ferries have halted both cargo and passenger operations. Starting November 11, services along the route Syktyvkar (Geologov Prospect) – Trekhозerka will be suspended. However, passenger transport to Alyoshino will continue via the Orbita motor ship, weather and ice conditions permitting.
In summary, ice on the Vychegda River has resulted in the use of hovercraft for passenger services and the suspension of certain routes. Passengers are urged to check schedules and plan their trips accordingly.
