Vũ Việt Trang retains position as Secretary for the Party Committee of Vietnam News Agency
The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) has set ambitious targets for the 2025-2030 period, aiming to project a modern, vibrant, and tradition-rich image of Vietnam on the global stage. Vũ Việt Trang, the General Director of the VNA, emphasised the importance of authentic, emotionally resonant, and inspiring stories in achieving this goal.
In line with Vietnam's national branding strategy, the VNA's priorities for the next decade include diversifying storytelling methods, expanding multilingual content, fostering public-private partnerships, and strengthening collaboration with international news agencies. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to elevate Vietnam's global image from mere recognition to being chosen and admired.
The VNA's ambitions extend beyond journalism, with cultural and economic targets such as increasing the cultural industry's contribution to 8% of GDP, boosting tourism's share to 14% of GDP, attracting at least 35 million international visitors by 2030, and securing a place among the world’s top 40 nation brands.
The VNA's strategic commitment aligns with the directives from the Prime Ministerial Resolution 47 and the orientations set by the 27th Party Congress. The agency also aims to be a reliable, accurate, and rich source of official information for the media system and the public, and to be highly effective in both domestic and external communications.
The VNA recently concluded its 27th Party Congress, during which a nine-member Standing Board, a Secretary, and Deputy Secretaries were elected. Vũ Việt Trang was re-elected as Secretary of the agency's Party Committee for the 2025-2030 tenure. The Congress's vision for the next decade aims to make the VNA a prestigious national news agency globally.
Nguyễn Tuấn Hùng, Deputy General Director of the VNA, was elected Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee. Trang called for intensifying emulation movements to mark significant anniversaries. A delegation of six official and two alternate delegates was also elected to attend the first congress of the Government's Party Organisation.
The VNA also aims to build a modern technological foundation and a contingent of professional journalists. General Director and Secretary Trang expressed gratitude to the Standing Board of the Government's Party Committee and central Party agencies, and called for continued assistance for the upcoming term.
Trang also stressed the need for all Party units within VNA to implement the congress's resolution and develop related action plans. The VNA aims to ensure stable revenue streams and continues to strive for excellence in journalism and communication to project a positive image of Vietnam on the global stage.
