Chambers demand adherence to area target for wind power - VSB Group's Wind Expansion Plan Faces Saxon Headwinds
VSB Group, a Dresden-based developer, has unveiled plans to expand Saxony's wind energy sector. However, the initiative faces criticism from industry and chambers of commerce due to recent legislative changes in the state parliament.
In September, the Saxon state parliament delayed the wind power area target, aiming for 1.3 percent by 2027 and two percent by 2032. The chambers of industry and commerce argue that wind power and storage are crucial for a stable energy supply, and the two-percent target was a step in the right direction.
The three Saxon Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) oppose the parliament's decision to scrap the two-percent area target. They fear this will hinder the sector's expansion and make Saxony less attractive for investments due to high costs in gas and coal power, CO2 pricing, and increasing sustainability requirements in financing. The chambers also warn that constant changes in political framework conditions unsettle companies and threaten competitiveness.
