30 Years Ago, Pierce Brosnan Made His Debut as a Secret Agent - VOX revives Pierce Brosnan’s iconic James Bond films this November
VOX is treating James Bond fans to a double dose of Pierce Brosnan's Bond this November. First up, on November 20, is 'Tomorrow Never Dies', starring Michelle Yeoh. Then, on November 27, VOX will air 'The World Is Not Enough', featuring Sophie Marceau's character entangling Bond.
Brosnan's debut as Bond came in 1995 with 'GoldenEye', a film that marked a careful attempt to update the iconic franchise after the fall of the Cold War. The movie was a hit, drawing 5.6 million viewers in Germany alone. 'GoldenEye' introduced a tougher, more unyielding Bond, played by Brosnan, who faced off against a Russian criminal syndicate called Janus. The film's villains were portrayed by Sean Bean and Gottfried John, while Judi Dench joined the cast as M, with Famke Janssen and Izabella Scorupco as the women in Bond's life. The plot revolved around the syndicate's plan to use two Soviet-era satellites to disable global computer systems with electromagnetic pulses.
VOX's Bond marathon begins with 'Tomorrow Never Dies' on November 20, followed by 'The World Is Not Enough' on November 27. These screenings offer a chance to revisit Pierce Brosnan's Bond era, which started with the successful 'GoldenEye' in 1995.
