Voting on proposed parks in Ekaterinburg concludes in the upcoming 2 days
Time's a-tickin'! The vote to revamp Yekaterinburg's parks is nearing its end, set to wrap up on June 12th. You can cast your vote on the Gosuslugi portal or through volunteers stationed across the city streets, shopping centers, and more.
The city has garnered over 386,000 votes thus far, with another 4,000 votes needed in the remaining three days to secure federal funding. Once the target is hit, the chosen park will undergo an impressive makeover by 2026. In total, there are 8 park zones in contention for the facelift.
Yesterday saw a sudden shift in the polling race's leader. As of now, the votes are distributed among the parks as follows:
- Embankment of the Iset and Olkhovka rivers - 71,900 votes;
- Osnovinsky Park - 64,700 votes;
- Park named after the 50th Anniversary of Soviet Power (2nd stage) - 65,600 votes;
- Boulevard on Kul'tury Street - 46,700 votes;
- Park named after V.P. Chkalov on Patrice Lumumba Street - 39,300 votes;
- Square on Amundsen Street - 37,400 votes;
- Preobrazhensky Park (2nd queue, 2nd stage) - 32,300 votes;
- Square at the intersection of Kraulia and Vikulova Streets - 28,500 votes.
Yekaterinburg Mayor Alexei Orlov was one of the first voters, supporting Osnovinsky Park, as reported by JustMedia. The team from the Mayakovsky Park prepared the park's improvement project, but last week, the Meteorogorka (second stage of the Park named after the 50th Anniversary of Soviet Power) held the lead, only to drop to second place.
Now, the embankment of the Iset and Olkhovka rivers, from Gorky Street, 11 to Kolmogorov Street, takes the lead.
