Tiago Tomás allegedly planning a comeback to VfB Stuttgart football club - Voting is back on the table for Tiago Tomas in the upcoming election for VfB Stuttgart's leadership position.
Portuguese Striker Tiago Tomas Returns to VfB Stuttgart
After much speculation, the transfer rumors surrounding Tiago Tomas and VfB Stuttgart have proven to be true. The Portuguese striker has returned to the German club on a permanent basis, following a successful loan spell in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.
Tiago Tomas initially joined VfB Stuttgart on loan from Sporting Lisbon in January 2022. His time at the club was marked by his pace, dribbling skills, and technical ability, which fit well with Stuttgart's playing style.
In the 2024/25 season, after leaving Stuttgart, Tomas joined Bundesliga rivals VfL Wolfsburg. However, it appears that he did not find favour with Wolfsburg's new head coach, Paul Simonis, leading to his search for a new club.
Stuttgart, who are still looking for reinforcements in attack, sought Tomas' return due to his past success with the club. The DFB Cup winners are hopeful that he will add more variety and effectiveness to their attack.
The deal was finalized in mid-August 2025, with Stuttgart paying approximately €13 million plus €2 million in potential bonuses to Wolfsburg. Tomas has signed a contract with Stuttgart running until 2029, and he has completed his medical and was officially unveiled by the club around August 15-16.
Tiago Tomas expressed his gratitude towards VfB Stuttgart, stating that they believed in him when no one else did. Despite the club not exercising the €15 million purchase option in 2023, Tomas emotionally bid farewell to VfB Stuttgart. Now, he is back and ready to make a significant impact on the pitch.
