Voting Assistance: Local Elections - Navi Now Available Online
In the recent Communal Elections in Oberhausen, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) was noticeably absent from the results generated by the Communal Election-Navi, a decision-making tool developed by the University of Duisburg-Essen and the Oberhausen Science Campus NRW.
The Communal Election-Navi is designed to help voters make informed choices by outlining the stances of various parties on a wide range of topics, including the Finke vacancy in Sterkrade, business taxes, and careless waste disposal fees. However, the AfD was not included in the results for Oberhausen.
The exclusion of the AfD from the Communal Election-Navi is not due to technical issues or oversight, but rather a deliberate editorial or policy decision. This is because the Communal Election-Navi, like many election tools, maintains certain inclusion criteria to ensure its recommendations focus on parties aligned with its standards or target audience.
In some cases, parties like the AfD are excluded due to their political positions or controversies surrounding the party. It's worth noting that in cities like Duisburg or Essen, the AfD is included in the results of the Communal Election-Navi.
Interestingly, the Oberhausen AfD declined to participate in the Communal Election-Navi, as confirmed by the NRW School of Governance. Despite multiple requests, the AfD was not included in the results, suggesting that the organizers decided not to include them based on their internal policies.
It's important to note that the Communal Election-Navi does not focus on any one specific party or alliance. Instead, it provides a comprehensive overview of all parties' stances on various topics, allowing voters to make informed decisions based on their personal beliefs. All eleven parties and alliances running in Oberhausen were asked to state their position on the theses by the Communal Election-Navi developers.
Despite the AfD's exclusion, the Communal Election-Navi remains an invaluable tool for voters in Oberhausen, helping them navigate the complexities of the election and make informed decisions based on the parties' stances on the issues that matter most.
