Vorkuta District issues urgent storm warning for residents tonight

Vorkuta District braces for severe weather. From 6:00 PM on November 16 to 6:00 AM on November 17, high winds of 9–14 m/s with gusts up to 19–24 m/s and a blizzard are expected. The Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters of the Komi Republic urges residents to take necessary precautions.

Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Hiking and forest trips are discouraged during this period. Drivers should exercise caution, maintain a safe following distance, and adhere to speed limits. In case of emergencies, dial 112 for all emergency response services.

Parents are encouraged to discuss safety measures with their children. Residents should also secure their homes, moving vehicles away from trees and billboards. Keep a safe distance from large solitary trees, power lines, and antennas, and be prepared for potential power outages. Unstable structures and buildings with weak roofs should be avoided.
