Volunteer Opportunities Now Available: Submit Your Application for the New Funding Program
In an effort to further strengthen the commitment to voluntary work in Thuringia, a new law has been initiated by the CDU faction, Minister President Mario Voigt, and the coalition partners. Known as the Thuringian Voluntary Work Act, this legislation aims to provide substantial financial resources for projects and organizations driven by volunteers.
The law, which will be effective from August 11, 2025, will offer funding opportunities for measures in various areas, such as heritage preservation, democracy, culture, sports, education, environment, social affairs, church, or disaster protection. Individual projects can receive funding between 5,000 and 50,000 euros, while cooperative projects can receive up to 100,000 euros.
To provide more information about the new funding opportunities, a digital information event is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. The event, hosted by the CDU faction, together with the SPD, the BSW, and the Thuringian State Chancellery, will provide details on the application process and the funding directive. Interested parties can register for the information event by email at [email protected] by August 18, 2025.
Small-scale funding of less than 5,000 euros will continue to be provided through the "Active on Site" program of the Thuringian Voluntary Work Foundation. Support services for clubs in acute distress are also available through the same fund.
CDU state parliament members Ulrike Jary and Martin Henkel, who announced the new law in August 2025, encourage all those engaged to make use of the new funding offers. The law connects people, creates community, and shapes public life in cities, villages, and regions.
For more detailed information on the application process and the funding directive, visit the information page of the CDU faction in the Thuringian State Parliament at www.cdu-landtag.de/ehrenamt. As members of parliament in the Wartburg district, Henkel and Jary are personally available for questions or support needs.
