The Heat's On at Bremen-Walle's Beach Volleyball Showdown!
Volleyball competition returns to Bremen: 600 metric tons of sand gathered for the venue
It's game on! The crème de la crème of beach volleyball players are set to clash for supremacy and a hefty €10,000 purse at the Waterfront in Bremen-Gröpelingen. Nevertheless, the hometown champion won't be stepping onto the sand this time around.
The event organizers surely rejoiced at the summery weather forecast for Bremen sizzling well with the excitement brewing at the Waterfront, where the beach volleyball action unfolds from June 12 to 15. Bremen proudly hosts the German Beach Tour for its fourth year, boasting a professional category comprising 8 tournaments in major cities like Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, and Bremen.
Sadly, Missing in Action: Local Ace Kim van de Velde
The German Beach Tour will crown its champions at Timmendorfer Strand, with qualifiers are underway since Thursday, and the main event starting on Friday. With many top German teams gearing up for battle, the €10,000 prize money will not find its way into a Bremen pro's wallet this time around—Kim van de Velde, the town's beloved icon and double champion in 2023 and 2024, won't be making an appearance due to personal obligations.
Initially hosted near Bremen's main station, the German Beach Tour moved to the Waterfront last year due to increased demand, offering a seating capacity that's more than double the original, seating approximately 1,100 spectators. Entrance remains free on Thursday and Friday.
Gearing Up the Newbies: Beach Volleyball for Future Champions
Despite unsourced information on this year's professional competitor list, local schools and clubs have been invited to join workshops and mini-tournaments aimed at nurturing the next generation of talent[1]. Curious visitors can check the official German Beach Tour or event organizer's website closer to the event date for confirmed pro participant details.
Despite Kim van de Velde's absence, the German Beach Tour at Bremen's Waterfront promises an exciting spectacle from June 12 to 15. While the hometown champion won't be present, avid sports fans can still catch the action on the court, particularly during the professional category matches organized by Radio Bremen for the fourth year, including events in cities like Düsseldorf, Hamburg, and Munich.
