On the Bench Rather Than in the Stands: Völler and Nagelsmann Opt for Team Bonding over Champions League Final
Munich Finale: Unwavering Team Spirit Leads Vollers and Nagelsmann's Victory - "Völler and Nagelsmann express exhilaration as they claim victory in Munich final"
The strong camaraderie within the German football national team trumps the allure of watching the Champions League final in action for coaches Julian Nagelsmann and Rudi Völler.
Despite being invited, these trusted duo from the DFB (German Football Association) have chosen to skip the live spectacle of Yann Aurel Bisseck of Inter Milan facing off against Paris Saint-Germain tonight (9:00 PM), ahead of the upcoming semifinal clash against Portugal on Wednesday.
"We've got the invite, but we're giving a polite decline. We'll stay put with the team at our HQ and catch the final together," shares Nagelsmann. "We believe it's more valuable to spend quality time with the squad. A whole day away would've been a missed opportunity."
This collective decision stems from the nurtured "we-feeling" among the team members, asserts Völler. "It's not often we're all here together. We value this bond and prefer to be here."
Their support for Bisseck remains steadfast
A different team in the final might have swayed their decision, confesses Nagelsmann. "It would've been sweet if a German team made it this far. Though, Rudi and I would've joined the cheer squad then."
Both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund bit the dust in the quarter-finals, with Bayern against Inter, and Dortmund against Barcelona. However, the coaches are rooting for Bisseck to replicate his victorious title run with the national team following the weekend. "Of course, we're rooting hard for him," says Völler. "We're supposed to be impartial, but with him in the final, we want him to shine and bring back the trophy!"
Nagelsmann is buzzing with excitement about the anticipated clash between Inter and PSG for the most prestigious club title: "Both teams have earned their place in the final. I'm gearing up for a thrilling match!"
