Mid-Crisis: Volkswagen's Procurement Chief Steps Down - Volkswagen's Procurement Chief Steps Down as Karsten Schnake Takes Over

Volkswagen is set to welcome a new face in its procurement department. Dirk Große-Loheide, who has been with the company since 1990 and served as procurement chief since 2023, will step down at the end of the month. His successor has not been officially announced yet.

The change is due to Große-Loheide's planned early retirement, which is unrelated to the ongoing semiconductor shortage. Volkswagen offers employees the opportunity to retire early through 'time-based securities'.

Karsten Schnake, currently serving in an interim capacity at Škoda, will take the reins as the new procurement chief for the Volkswagen brand starting November. He will continue to serve in this role until the end of 2025. The company has not yet revealed who will succeed Große-Loheide on a permanent basis.

Volkswagen's procurement leadership change is a result of planned early retirement, with no connection to the current semiconductor crisis. Karsten Schnake will lead the procurement team for the Volkswagen brand starting this November, with his tenure set to last until the end of 2025. The identity of Große-Loheide's successor remains unknown at this time.
