Volkswagen Transporter crash near Schwerin leaves two injured after icy skid
A Volkswagen Transporter crashed late on Tuesday evening near Schwerin, leaving two passengers injured. The accident happened around 11:00 p.m. on the B 104 bypass, close to the Margaretenhof junction. Authorities blamed icy roads and excessive speed for the incident. The 39-year-old driver lost control of the van, causing it to fishtail and skid. The vehicle rolled once before landing upright across the oncoming lane. Two passengers, aged 40 and 47, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Schwerin Hospital. Emergency crews worked at the scene until around 1:00 a.m. to clear the wreckage. The van, severely damaged, had to be towed away. Police later identified the driver through his own statements, passenger accounts, and vehicle registration details. The total cost of the accident is estimated at roughly €10,000. The crash disrupted traffic on the B 104 bypass for several hours. Both injured passengers received treatment at Schwerin Klinikum. Authorities continue to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident.
