Volcano Vista secures triumph against Eldorado in an electric match.
Volcano Vista Hawks Dominate Eldorado Eagles in 35-7 Victory
In a thrilling game at Nusenda Community Stadium, the Volcano Vista Hawks (4-1) secured a convincing 35-7 victory over the Eldorado Eagles (1-3). The eagles game was delayed by an hour due to lightning, but once underway, it was clear that the Hawks were determined to claim the win.
Coach Quin Snyder's team started the game a little flat, but they responded well, according to Coach Snyder. Aurelius Wiley, who began the season as a slot receiver but was moved to quarterback due to an injury to the starting QB, was instrumental in the Hawks' success.
Wiley accounted for 140 rushing yards in the first half, scoring on runs of 7, 30, and 17 yards. His first four touchdowns came on the ground, providing the Hawks with a commanding 28-0 lead at halftime.
Eldorado struggled at critical times, with their first three drives of the second half ending in an interception, a pair of turnovers on downs in Volcano Vista territory. The Eagles' lone scoring drive of the first half was aided by Volcano Vista's unwillingness to kick to Jahari Morehead.
Despite these setbacks, Eldorado was able to run the ball with success, primarily due to Nolan Romero-Williams' efforts. However, it was not enough to counter the Hawks' dominance. Wiley capped off an 81-yard drive on Volcano Vista's opening drive of the second half with another 17-yard scoring run, extending the Hawks' lead to 35-0.
Wiley threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Zach Corona in the third quarter, further solidifying the Hawks' victory. Eldorado did manage to score a touchdown late in the game, but it was too little, too late for the Eagles.
Coach Snyder praised Wiley's performance, noting that he is becoming more comfortable in the offense. Wiley's athleticism allows him to extend plays when plays break down, making him a formidable force on the field.
As the Hawks continue their winning streak, they will look to build on this victory and maintain their position at the top of their division. Meanwhile, Eldorado will look to regroup and improve for their next game.
