Vladivostok's Bike Glowworms ride breaks attendance records in 2026

Vladivostok's cycling community has kicked off its season with the annual Bike Glowworms ride. Nearly 90 participants turned out for the 2026 edition, marking a record attendance for the event. The ride, held since 2015, aims to promote road safety and remind drivers that bicycles belong on the road. The Bike Glowworms ride took place despite cool but dry weather. Organisers designed a 10-12 kilometre route through the city's landmarks, making it accessible for beginners. This year's turnout was the highest since the event began, except for two cancellations—one due to the pandemic and another following a local tragedy.

The ride is one of two major cycling events in Vladivostok each year. The other, the Pajama Ride, happens in late summer. Together, they form part of around 60 activities the local cycling community organises annually.

For many residents, Bike Glowworms signals the start of the cycling season. Its purpose goes beyond recreation, reinforcing the message that cyclists have the same right to the road as motorists. The 2026 Bike Glowworms ride set a new participation record. Its beginner-friendly route and focus on road safety highlight the growing cycling culture in Vladivostok. The event remains a key fixture in the city's annual calendar.
