Vladivostok plans to upgrade its versatile card stadium for a variety of events
Good news for motorsport enthusiasts in Vladivostok, Russia! The "Zmeinka" kartodrom, a much-loved venue for motorsports, is set to reopen in 2025 following a significant modernisation project.
The land plot for the restoration has been officially handed over to the management of the Vladivostok Municipal Sports School for Technical Sports. Work is currently underway on the adjacent territory to prepare the track for motocross, and plans include the construction of a technical park equipped with all necessary equipment for servicing and repairing racing vehicles.
The city hall is preparing project documentation for this major modernisation, which includes a new asphalt surface, meeting modern safety standards, being laid during the modernisation. The cleaning of the stormwater drainage system is also being done to prevent flooding that has occurred in the past at the "Zmeinka" kartodrom.
Athletes and the TOS "Our Zmeinka" have advocated for the preservation of the "Zmeinka" kartodrom, and their efforts have not gone unnoticed. Valeriy Kurinchkin, Deputy Head of the City Administration's Department of Physical Culture and Sports, made a statement about the motocross preparation and the cleaning of the stormwater drainage system.
The closure of the "Zmeinka" kartodrom previously caused concern among the residents, but now, there's a sense of relief and excitement in the air. Athletes may return to training at the "Zmeinka" kartodrom even before the start of reconstruction, after obtaining all necessary permits.
Valeriy Kurinchkin also noted that specialists are working diligently on the project, ensuring that the "Zmeinka" kartodrom will be ready to serve the community once again. The date of the official resumption of the kartodrom's operation will be announced additionally.
