Vladivostok Debuts Theatrical Harbor Festival for Young Performers

Vladivostok is set to host its first-ever Theatrical Harbor festival for children's theatre from March 20 to 24. The event brings together 100 ensembles from Primorsky Krai, competing for a prize fund of 1 million rubles. It coincides with International Theater Day and Russia's Year of National Unity, adding to its significance as a cultural celebration.

The festival will feature two leagues: professional children's theatres and amateur beginner studios. Participants will perform across five age groups, with productions judged in five main categories. Russian folk tales serve as the central theme for all entries.

Over four days, the jury will review every performance within a packed schedule of 10 hours daily. The top 10 troupes will share the prize money, while a special award will recognise an outstanding production director. Beyond competitions, the festival offers an educational programme with master classes and creative workshops. Experts from Moscow will lead these sessions, providing training and inspiration for young performers. The event will close with a gala concert at the Primorsky Philharmonic Hall, with selected productions also staged at the Puppet Theater and the Youth Theater.

The Theatrical Harbor festival highlights local talent while fostering artistic growth through competition and learning. With 100 ensembles vying for prizes and a focus on Russian folk traditions, the event aims to strengthen cultural ties within Primorsky Krai. The gala concert and staged performances will mark the culmination of four intensive days of theatre.
