Vítor Sá's Arraial brings festival humour to his latest solo stand-up show

Vítor Sá has built a career in comedy, splitting his time between Porto and Lisbon. Known for his sharp wit, he balances stand-up, podcasts, and writing while travelling frequently between the two cities. His latest project, a solo show titled Arraial, pays homage to the village festivals that shaped his storytelling.

Sá first made a name for himself as a writer for Conteúdo do Batáguas and as part of the comedy groups behind Cubinho and Prata da Casa. His solo podcast, Desnorte, lets him explore ideas freely, though fans often joke about his carpentry skills—a reference he finds amusing but has no plans to turn into a podcast.

For years, he commuted between Porto, where he lives, and Lisbon, where many of his opportunities arose. Early in his career, he occasionally misled people about his location just to secure stand-up gigs in the capital. His persistence paid off, leading to regular appearances and a growing reputation.

On Humor à Primeira Vista, a podcast hosted by Gustavo Carvalho, Sá once revealed to his parents live on air that he had quit his job to pursue comedy full-time. The show often blends humour with broader cultural discussions, interviewing comedians who treat their craft as both passion and profession.

Now, Sá is preparing to release Arraial, his second solo stand-up show. The performance draws on memories and anecdotes from the rural festivals he attended, weaving personal stories into his comedic style.

Sá's work spans writing, podcasting, and live performance, with Arraial marking his latest creative step. His routine of driving between Porto and Lisbon remains unchanged, reflecting the dedication behind his rising profile in Portuguese comedy. The show's debut will bring his festival-inspired humour to wider audiences.
