Vitaly Khoticko initiates festive events marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Omsk.
Saturday, May 3, 2025, saw Governor Vitaliiy Hozhenko of Omsk region participating in a heartfelt gathering titled "In the Frontline Forest" in the village of Cherepakhovo. Kicking off a series of celebratory events honoring the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
Organized within the military-memorial complex "Cherepakhovo" of the Omsk Armored Engineering Institute, this patriotic project echoed the historic spirit of the place where military units underwent training and eventually fought epic battles, including those close to Moscow, Leningrad, Stalingrad, and Berlin.
Hozhenko saluted the heroes of the past and those protecting the nation today as he laid wreaths during the event. "Years have passed, but here they still breed fearless defenders of the Motherland. Teachers and graduates of the Omsk Armored Engineering Institute continue the martial traditions, participating in special military operations," he said.*
Participants then observed a minute of silence, honoring the heroism and bravery of the protectors of the Motherland, and walked along a "Glory Alley" — a series of interactive locations honoring the heroism of the front and the homefront, featuring reconstructions of recruitment stations, battle preparations, and depictions of daily life in the rear lines, soldiers' letters, and quiz games about significant battles.*
