Vitaliy Hozenco initiates festive events in Omsk marking the 80th anniversary of Victory.
In a show of patriotism, Omsk Governor Vitaly Khotsenko attended the grand event "В лесу прифронтовом" on May 3, 2025, in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. This memorable occasion kicked off a series of celebrations to mark the significant milestone across Omsk[2][3].
The historical military memorial complex "Черемушки," linked to the Omsk Automotive Armored Engineering Institute, was the event's picturesque venue. This site was pivotal during the war, serving as the training ground for troops who later saw action in monumental battles such as Moscow, Leningrad, Stalingrad, and even Berlin[2].
Addressing the gathering, Gov Khotsenko expressed his appreciation to those who fought valiantly in May 1945, as well as those currently protecting the nation. He said, "The years may have passed, but here they still prepare valiant defenders of the motherland. Teachers and graduates of the Omsk Automotive Armored Engineering Institute continue with their battle traditions by participating in a special military operation."[2]
After paying tribute to the Memory Flame with wreaths and observing a minute of silence in remembrance of the courage and valor of our nation's defenders, the attendees proceeded down the "Alley of Glory."
This Alley encompasses nine interactive locations, celebrating the valor of the front and homefront. From reconstructing recruitment centers and military training facilities to showcasing daily life on the homefront, reading letters from the front, and hosting historically-themed quizzes on iconic battles, attendees were immersed in a poignant and educational experience[5].
The day also included hands-on workshops, a glimpse into an historical battle reenactment of the Great Patriotic War, and dancing to the Victory Waltz.
