Human Rights Activist Vitali Klitschko Honored with Franz Werfel Award - Vitali Klitschko awarded Franz Werfel Prize in recognition of his human rights advocacy.

Get ready to crown a new champion! Vitali Klitschko, a former world-class boxer and the current Mayor of Kyiv, will be honored with the Franz Werfel Human Rights Award 2025. This prestigious recognition, worth 10,000 euros, will officially be presented today, beginning at 12:00 PM, amid the hallowed walls of the Frankfurter Paulskirche.

Federal Defense Minister, Boris Pistorius (SPD), will grace the occasion with a heartfelt laudation. In addition, Hesse's Minister President, Boris Rhein (CDU), will be present, as the event occurs under his honorary patronage.

This honor salutes Klitschko's relentless pursuit of liberty, democracy, and human rights, both within Ukraine and abroad. Since 2014, the resilient boxer has held the position of Mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.

Established every two years by the Center against Expulsions Foundation based in Wiesbaden, the Franz Werfel Human Rights Award recognizes individuals who embody Werfel's commitment to human brotherhood and peace. Previous laureates include Romania's then-President Klaus Iohannis in 2023.
