Renowned German musician Udo Lindenberg will be displaying his visual art in an upcoming exhibition, marking a departure from his long-standing career in music. The display, titled "Schloss Udohausen," will be held at Schloss Oberhausen starting June 29, 2025.

Lindenberg, whose musical career spans over five decades, has opted to dedicate 2025 to painting rather than releasing new songs. Speaking to the German Press Agency, he emphasized his commitment to "quick brushstrokes and delicious colors" for the upcoming year.

The artist has been creating aquarelles using liqueur, referred to as "Liqueur-elles," since the 1990s. Although music won't be entirely absent from the exhibition, Lindenberg plans to reserve nighttime hours for tour preparations and brainstorming melodies.

In a separate development, an album from Lindenberg's first band Free Orbit, titled "Free Jazz Goes Underground," will be released in 2025. The recordings, which include legendary jazz trombonist Peter Herbolzheimer, have been re-released after approximately 55 years. The album showcases Lindenberg's early endeavors as an experimental jazz drummer with a unique mix of jazz rock, soul, and big band-like brass arrangements.

Reflecting on his career and the challenges faced by musicians, Lindenberg noted that staying artistically true was never easy—in the 1960s or now. When asked if his earlier self would approve of his current work, he responds wryly, "'Boah, all good, Allltaa.'" This quote emphasizes Lindenberg's acceptance of his varied career path and ongoing creative evolution.

The exhibition at Schloss Oberhausen offers a glimpse into Lindenberg's diverse creative interests, marking a significant shift in his career. By showcasing his artistic skills, Lindenberg highlights his commitment to exploring different forms of creative expression beyond music.

Visitors to the "Schloss Udohausen" exhibition at Schloss Oberhausen in 2025 will not only find Udo Lindenberg's visual art, but potentially catch a sneak peek into his future music projects, as the artist has reserved nighttime hours for tour preparations and new melodies. Amidst his five-decade musical career, Lindenberg's focus on painting in 2025 demonstrates his desire to experiment with various lifestyle choices, including the fashion-and-beauty of his liqueur-based aquarelles and the entertainment of art exhibition and music production.
