Visiting Professor Opoku-Agyemang Concludes Regional Tour in Central Region
The 2020 running mate of ex-President John Dramani Mahama, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, wrapped up a 10-day tour of the Central Region recently. This region holds significant importance as it's her hometown. During her visit, she engaged with the NDC Tertiary Education Network (TEIN) at the University of Cape Coast and regional executives of the party.
In Agona East Constituency, she paid a visit to two community centers constructed by the area's MP, Maame Pokuwaa Sawyer. These centers were erected at Mankrong and Domeabra. Following the tour, she addressed a gathering in her honor, praising the MP's efforts and encouraging the locals to unite and support the Constituency Executives for a landslide win in the 2024 general elections.
A meeting with the Central Region's Functional Executive (FEC) was also held at the Regional Party Head Office in Cape Coast. There, she recognized the team's successful conduct of various elections and urged them to make even greater sacrifices for the betterment of the party and the region. The Regional Chairman, Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu, promised unwavering support for her endeavors.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also made a surprise visit to members of the Tertiary Education Network (TEIN) of the NDC at the university. She appreciated the team's dedication to the party, particularly under the leadership of Miss Lydia Spio.
As a noted political figure, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang has been vocal about the need for a collective anti-corruption strategy. She emphasizes the importance of sustainably funding anti-corruption agencies to insulate them from political influence. She's also called for legislative action, such as universalizing unexplained wealth orders to apply to both public officials and private citizens [2][3][4].
Recently sworn in as Chairperson of the Police Council, she's pledged to address promotion delays, unfair treatments, and other issues within the Ghana Police Service. Her goal is to foster leadership that supports police personnel and ensures justice and security for all citizens [1].
Her recent activities include swearing in as Chairperson of the Police Council, participating in high-level conferences on anti-corruption, and engaging in community and educational outreach [1][2][4][5]. Her regional focus centers on good governance, anti-corruption, and supporting law enforcement to tackle local concerns about security, justice, and integrity in public service. Her leadership in national roles continues to inspire the Central Region.
