Neubrandenburg was one of these cities, hosting the "Day of the Bundeswehr" on June 28, 20XX. During this event, visitors could immerse themselves in a range of military tasks and activities.
Tank Demonstrations Captivate Attendees
For a thrilling experience, visitors in Neubrandenburg had the chance to explore a tank ride, engage in simulated combat, and witness technical demonstrations. A major highlight of the day was the display at the Tollense barracks in the Fünfeichen neighborhood. The Panzergrenadier Battalion 401, a specialist unit in international crisis management and national defense, showcased their deployments through a simulated attack exercise.
Following the attack, Major Marcel Folkens, company commander of the Panzergrenadiers, shared his thoughts with our website. He emphasized the importance of openness and sharing the experiences of serving in the Bundeswehr. For Folkens, his career in the armed forces is driven by the desire to give back and ensure security for all.
Visitors Travel Far and Wide
The city of the four gates welcomed around 16,000 visitors on the Day of the Bundeswehr. Many of them resided locally, but some even traveled from Southern Germany – such as from Bavaria. According to Captain Gregor Fröhlich, press officer of the Bundeswehr, the attendees included individuals with a personal connection to Neubrandenburg or who had once served there themselves.
Overall, approximately 1,200 soldiers from various parts of Germany were present in Neubrandenburg to manage, shape, and answer questions from guests. On the market square, they showcased their commitment to the Bundeswehr through information stands, vehicles, equipment, and interactive demonstrations. Additionally, curious visitors could gather information about career opportunities within the Bundeswehr.
Interactive Stations and Closer Connections
Beyond the military demonstrations, the Day of the Bundeswehr provided opportunities for personal conversations and encounters. Visitors seized this opportunity to ask questions, explore technology, and even participate in interactive activities, such as a shooting simulator set up at the Tollense barracks.
The bond between Neubrandenburg and the Bundeswehr has been strong for quite some time. Since 2014, a sponsorship has been established, with the renewal ceremony for the connection scheduled in 2024. In 2021, this partnership was recognized through the "Bundeswehr and Society" award presented on a regional level.
Visitors traveled far beyond Neubrandenburg to participate in the Day of the Bundeswehr, with some even coming all the way from Bavaria. Apart from the military demonstrations, the event also offered interactive stations where visitors could ask questions, learn about technology, and even engage in activities like shooting simulators.
