Violent clashes erupt at VfB Lübeck vs. Hamburger SV II match

A Regionalliga match between VfB Lübeck and Hamburger SV II turned violent on March 13, 2024. The game at Lohmühle-Stadion ended in a 0–2 win for Hamburg, but clashes between fans overshadowed the result. Six people required medical treatment after disturbances broke out during and after the match.

Trouble began when pyrotechnics were set off in the Pappelkurve stand, injuring three spectators. Police intervened to control the situation inside the stadium, where 1,128 fans were present.

A larger confrontation later erupted near Lübeck's fan village, involving over 50 people. Officers separated the rival groups and recorded personal details of those involved. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incidents. The match itself saw Hamburg's reserve team secure a 0–2 away victory, but the post-match focus shifted to the fan violence and injuries.

Six individuals received on-site medical care following the unrest. Police are now reviewing evidence and witness statements as part of their inquiry. The club and local authorities have yet to announce further measures in response to the clashes.
