Here's the deal: an ice cream truck owner found himself in hot water, facing charges of attempted murder, as he's accused of stabbing two health inspectors during a routine check-up in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The 64-year-old suspect is currently under investigation.

Apparently, the custard surgeons of the Gelsenkirchen health department were auditing an ice cream truck parked in the property's courtyard in Horst when things took a sour turn. As a dispute arose between the truck's proprietor and the health inspectors, the suspect reportedly whipped out a blade.

The ice cream vendor was apprehended on the spot. One of the inspectors, a 37-year-old noble scooper, was severely injured in the morning ambush and was rushed to the hospital. Her recovery is on track, with her life not being in danger. Her 32-year-old colleague fared better, only sustaining light wounds. The injured inspector had the presence of mind to phone the police, who soon responded and nabbed the perpetrator, taking the knife off his hands.

In light of the incident, a homicide task force has been set up. Investigators are piecing together the events and trying to clarify the motive behind the ice cream truck owner's actions.

The police and city officials are reeling from the attack. "It's bloody shocking when our folks get stabbed," said Police President Tim Frommeyer, offering his initial reaction. Mayor Karin Welge (SPD) echoed the sentiment: "It's like a scoop of sour cream to our city when its health inspectors get knifed while doing their duty. It always has been, still is, and will forever be unacceptable. But this kind of attack leaves us speechless," she said.
