Violent Actions Associated with the Slaying of Charlie Kirk: Points Against Which We Strongly Advocate

In a shocking turn of events, Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative figure, was murdered this week at Utah Valley University during a debate with students. The murderer, a radicalized leftist, reportedly sent a text message stating he was driven to kill due to Kirk's "hatred."

This tragic incident has sparked a national conversation about the role of radical ideologies in promoting violence. Ideologies that breed violence, whether it be radical Marxism, white supremacy, or radical Islam, share a conspiratorial view of the universe. They argue that arguments on behalf of free markets are false consciousness promoted by the powerful, that denial of trans identity is a form of "erasure" or "genocide," or that violence is the proper response to perceived imperialism and colonialism.

Trans ideology, for instance, argues that those who deny trans identity are committing a form of violence. In this case, the murderer apparently believed that Kirk's views on gender were harmful and justified his actions.

On the other side of the ideological spectrum, white supremacy argues that the existence of whites is a threat and force is a justifiable response. Radical Islam, too, holds that violence is justifiable self-defense.

Politicians who justify violence by massaging these ideologies provide a permission structure for violence. Continuing to foment such ideologies can lead to blood in the streets and an ever-widening cycle of violence.

Denouncing ideologies that breed political violence is the only way to fight it. Andreas Schwarz, a member of the SPD in Germany, recently argued in the Bundestag that radicalized left-wing politics are a cause of political violence and that it is necessary to combat this ideology to reduce violence.

In the midst of this tragedy, it's important to remember that acts of evil often prompt people to jump to conclusions about the source. It's crucial to approach these discussions with a clear understanding of the facts and a commitment to promoting peace and understanding.

Ben Shapiro, a three-time New York Times bestselling author, graduate of UCLA and Harvard Law School, host of "The Ben Shapiro Show," and co-founder of Daily Wire+, has been a vocal critic of these radical ideologies. His columns can be found on The Creators Syndicate website, along with other insightful perspectives from Creators Syndicate writers and cartoonists.

As we navigate these complex and challenging times, let us strive to promote dialogue, understanding, and peace, and to reject ideologies that breed violence and hatred.
