Ozzy Osbourne and Ronnie James Dio: Debunking the Beef Myth

Contrary to long-standing rumors, Ozzy Osbourne and Ronnie James Dio did not harbor animosity towards each other, as revealed by Vinny Appice, a drummer who played with both singers and bands.

In a recent interview, Appice stated that Ozzy Osbourne always spoke fondly of Dio in private conversations, expressing admiration and even love for him. This contradicts the popular narrative that they hated each other after Dio replaced Osbourne in Black Sabbath in 1979.

Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away this week at the age of 76, admitted he was hurt by the situation of being replaced. However, he also acknowledged Dio's talent and the good job he did in Black Sabbath, as he told SiriusXM in 2022.

The pictures in question, taken at a festival, show the two musicians hanging out amicably. This, along with Ozzy's private admissions, reinforces the idea that any perceived feud was exaggerated or fabricated by fans and media.

Vinny Appice, who played drums with Black Sabbath when Dio was in the lineup, also joined Dio's solo band. His relationship with Ozzy came about through his brother Carmine Appice's links with Ozzy Osbourne.

In the interview, Vinny Appice mentioned that there are pictures of Ozzy Osbourne and Dio hanging out together. These images, along with the musicians' words, serve to debunk the myth of a beef between the two legendary rock stars.
