Vĩnh Long Welcomes Ok Om Bok Festival: Moon Worship, Boat Races, and Cultural Showcase
Vĩnh Long Province is hosting the Ok Om Bok Festival from November 1 to 5. This annual event, also known as the Festival of Worshipping the Moon, celebrates the change from the rainy to the dry season. It aims to introduce and promote the cultural identities of ethnic minority groups in Vĩnh Long.
The Ok Om Bok Culture, Sports and Tourism Week is in full swing, with various activities planned. The Vĩnh Long Open Ngo (Khmer long boat) race is the highlight, taking place on November 3 and 4 at the Long Bình River in Trà Vinh Ward. Around 600 athletes from nine teams will compete in races of 1,000 metres and 800 metres for men, and 800 metres for mixed teams.
The festival also includes an exhibition promoting Vĩnh Long's OCOP (one commune one product) and tourism products. Sports activities such as cycling, motorcycle racing, football, volleyball, and folk games will be held. Traditional Khmer culture will be showcased through performances of costumes, crafts, music, and dance.
The Ok Om Bok Culture, Sports and Tourism Week will conclude on November 5. The festival will end with a performance of floating water lanterns. The Vĩnh Long Open Ngo race, with its exciting competition and traditional atmosphere, is expected to be a memorable event for participants and spectators alike.
